Bottle Packaging Solutions   

Adpak and sister company Adpal can supply a range of bottle packaging solutions from the SMI Group of Italy. The product range includes SMI Form (PET bottle blow moulding), SMI Line (conveyors) and SMI Group for high speed shrinkwrapping, wrap around case packers, sleeve and handle applicators. Service and spares can now be sourced through Adpak and Adpal.

SK Series

The SK series is composed of automatic shrinkwrapping machines without sealing bar for packing plastic, metal or glass containers.

SK Series Shrinkwrapping Machine

Depending on the model chosen, the following package types are available:

Film only
Corrugated cardboard pad + film
Corrugated cardboard tray + film
Corrugated cardboard tray without film
Stacked corrugated cardboard trays + film

The SK series attains speeds ranging from 18 to 360 packs per minute, depending on the machine model, the product kind and the selected format. SK shrinkwrappers are available in single or double lane and can handle containers of different capacities and formats.

The packaging process takes place in continous motion in the following phases. In the pack formation zone, products are grouped in the desired pattern by means of an electronic device and, if required, are placed upon a pad or a blank made from corrugated cardboard. In the tray forming area, the blank edges are folded in order to get a tray. In the next phase, the film is wrapped around the container batch and is overlapped at the base of the pack, which eventually runs through the heat shrinking tunnel.

TF Series

The TF series comprises automatic traypacking machines for packaging plastic, metal or glass containers without film or plastic. Trays can be octagonal or rectangular, with walls having either the same or different heights.

TF Series Traypacking Machine

TF trayformers pack containers of different capacities and have a running speed of 30 to 80 packs per minute, according to the machine model, product kind and the selected format. The packaging process takes place in continuous motion in the following phases. In the pack formation zone, products are grouped in the desired pattern by means of an electronic device and are placed upon a blank made from corrugated cardboard.

In the tray forming area, the blank edges are folded and fixed by hot melt glueing in order to make a tray. Packs coming out of the trayformer can be conveyed to another packer or straight to the palletiser.

MP Series

The MP series of automatic multipacking machines is designed to pack plastic, metal and glass containers in overwrapping cardboard sleeves.

MP Series Cardboard Sleeve Multipacking Machine

Rates vary from 100 to 300 packs per minute depending on the machine model, product kind and the selected format. Low or medium capacity containers can be packed in OTT (over the top) or NT (neck through) formats. For particular product shapes, the pack can be strengthened by adding a top retaining flap which keeps the containers steadier inside the cardboard sleeve. The packaging process takes place in continuos motion as described afterwards.

In the pack formation zone, products are grouped in the required pattern upon which, almost simultaneously a thin cardbaord blank is placed. A mechanical device then bends two edges of the blank downwards and joins by hot melt glueing beneath the container batch. Packs coming out of the multipacker can be conveyed to another packaging machine or straight to the palletiser.

WP Series

The WP series is composed of automatic wraparound machines to pack plastic, metal or glass containers in corrugated cardboard boxes and/or trays without film. Trays can be octagonal or rectangular, with walls having either the same or different heights.

WP Series Wraparound Casepacking Machine

WP casepackers pack containers of different capacities and have a running speed of 30 to 80 packs per minute depending on the machine model, product kind and the selected format. The packaging process takes place in continuous motion in the following phases. In the pack formation zone, products are grouped in the required pattern by means of an electronic device and are placed upon a blank made of corrugated cardboard. In the case/tray forming section, the blank edges are folded and glued by hot melt so as to obtain a closed box or tray.

In addition to the standard machines, the WP series also comprises XL models, suitable for producing larger packages. The blank magazine capacity of all WP models can be increased through modular units of expansion.

CM Series

The CM series is made up of automatic combination machines which form single units to offer the functions of a wraparound casepacker and a shrinkwrapper.

CM Series Combination Machine

CM combination machines handle plastic, metal and glass containers in the following package types:

Corrugated cardboard box
Corrugated cardboard pad + film
Corrugated cardboard tray + film
Corrugated cardboard tray without film

The blank magazine capacity of all CM models can be increased through modular units of expansion.
